I told my fellow Geekachicas that the latest scripts of The Dark Knight Rises were fake, and I was right. Because today Nolan shocked fan boys around the world with his announcement. Today he has confirmed that Anne Hathaway is joining the cast and will be playing Batman’s jewel thief Selina Kylie a.k.a Catwoman. Nolan did have a few words to say

Christopher Nolan stated, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story.”

In addition, Tom Hardy has been set to play Bane. Nolan said, “I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies.”

ALSO we finally know the role Tom Hardy will be playing, and it’s my pleasure to say this “IT’S NOT HUGO STRANGE” so suck it you fan boys who kept saying it was… WOW that felt sooooo good. Tom Hardy will be taking on the role of BANE, you might remember this character from the other batman blunder film BATMAN & ROBIN ,and the man that broke the Dark Knight back in the comics. Should be great to see him in the big screen.

 ( STORY ARCH )  UPDATED  AT 8:16  1/19/11

So, I’m back on the PC trying to figure out where Nolan might take this film, and I have one word KnightFall , well it’s a one word in the title.. GET OFF MY BACK πŸ˜‰ Anyway here’s how KnightFalls plot plays out.

The plot of Knightfall begins[note 3] with the master criminal Bane freeing all of the maximum-security inmates of Arkham Asylum, a notorious psychiatric facility in Gotham City. Aware that he would lose in a direct assault against Batman, Bane’s plan consists of weakening Batman by forcing him to deal with the deadly villains simultaneously. Among the freed inmates, there are numerous high-profile villains, such as the Joker (who trapped Arkham’s administrator Jeremiah Arkham), and the Scarecrow, as well as many less known villains, such as the Mad Hatter, The Ventriloquist, Firefly, Cavalier, The Film Freak and Victor Zsasz. The scenario creates a rift in the relationship between Robin and Batman, as Batman irrationally seeks to face the outbreak alone—in later issues, Robin asks Batman if he is even needed as his sidekick anymore. A later flashback to this time period (Showcase ’93 #7-8) shows Batman pursuing Two-Face alone, being trapped and kidnapped to stand a mock trial; he is saved only by a rescue attempt from Robin.

Over the next few issues, Batman becomes weaker and weaker as each criminal is put away. The rescue of Mayor Krol from the combination of the Joker and Scarecrow takes Batman to his mental and physical limits: a dose of Scarecrow’s fear gas makes him relive the murder of Jason Todd, which he considers to be his greatest failure. After this encounter, Bane makes his move and attacks Batman at Wayne Manor, his home as his alter-ego—by this time, Bane had deduced the secret identity of Batman. The fight between Bruce Wayne and Bane is detailed in Batman #497, and ends with Wayne’s back being broken over Bane’s knee inside the Batcave below the manor, “breaking” Batman and leaving Wayne a paraplegic.[1] Bane takes the grievously-wounded Wayne (still costumed in the Batman outfit) downtown to Gotham Square and throws him from a rooftop to demonstrate his superiority to the populace. With Batman incapacitated, Bane assumes control of Gotham City’s underworld and takes over several illegal operations within it.

Now, that’s an amazing plot! Minus the robin ( hate robin ) and this plot leaves us with Scarecrow coming into play, Victor Zazz once more and even MAD HATTER who I’m dying to see πŸ˜€ they characters would have small cameos of course.

Though, I don’t see Nolan breaking the back of our Dark Knight at the end of the film, but I could see how freaks on the loose adds to the title, the city will have to turn to Batman like it or not.

I’m still trying to figure how Catwoman will fit in, I might have to look at some other comics and see where she might tie in. Nolan enjoys taking plots from comics here and there, as he did with The Dark Knight,  he mixed the LONG HALLOWEEN, KILLING JOKE, and BATMAN Vol.1 detective series as well.

I’m off to dig more info my geekachicas readers. Don’t foget to add your two cents.

( My opinion )

My thoughts on the casting of Catwoman… meh, I really didn’t want to see Catwoman, but, I trust Nolan. Bane is pretty cool, I have no problem with that at all, the character needed to be saved after what they did to him in Batman & Robin.
